FEATURING:

BO-PEEP

Mika Yoshimura (Guitar, Vocal) Ryoko Nakano (Drums)

Crashing onto the global music scene like a diminutive but no less destructive monster, Bo-Peep are two small girls who make a very big noise. http://bo-peep3.com/

TOKYO PINSALOCKS

Naoko (vocals) and Hisayo (bass) are the self-styled Tokyo cyber-pop Hallelujah Girls!  Formed in 2000, the group is celebrating 15 years with a series of gigs featuring Naoko’s effervescent vocals set against Hisayo’s booty-shaking bass lines. www.pinsalocks.com

MOLICE

Within 6 months of forming in 2007, Molice took the stage at Japan’s giant Summer Sonic festival. The New Wave-flavored unit debuted through US-based Good Charamel Records, and has performed from the US to Vietnam. Last year’s Resonance Love was recorded with crowdfunding support from Japan to Russia and Australia. www.themolice.com/

MOTHERCOAT

Mothercoat’s latest album, Allergies mixed by Fernando Lodeiro (Vampire Weekend etc.) brought them a cult following across the UK and North America, where they have toured extensively from the early stage of their career and played showcase gigs at SXSW. In regular demand at  venues across Japan, they are quirky, innovative and exhilarating.  www.mothercoat.com

MOJA

Haru (bass & vocals) and Masumi (drums) craft thunderous, high-speed dance  rock. The Tokyo duo is infamous for their “floor live” performances, in which they play on the floor instead on stage. Audiences go mad at their shows from Canada to the US, UK, Hong Kong, Korea, Italy and further afield.  http://www.hello-moja.com/

TSUSHIMAMIRE

TsuShiMaMiRe means roughly “covered in sushi.” Since 1999, Mari (vocals & guitar), Yayoi (bass) and Mizue (drums) have been recklessly smashing together rock, punk, funk, hip-hop… and even children’s songs. http://tsushimamire.com

ZARIGANI$ is a two-piece girl band (Eri and Mizuki) of “the loud sound.” The world that they create is “very crazy and amazing.” Audiences worldwide–including most recently at SXSW–never know what hit them until it’s too late. http://zariganidollar.com
