SAIKO: Tokyo Live Music Showcase

Launched with Metropolis magazine in Tokyo, Saiko showcases independent Japanese musicians and performing artists to international audiences in Tokyo and New York. Saiko has worked with iTunes Japan to present contemporary Tokyo music scenes from punk to postrock, and electronic music to jazz-funk and broken beats.

Saikoは日本のインディーシーンの音楽とパフォーミングアートを東京やニューヨークの国際的なオーディエンスにショーケースとして紹介しています。最近では iTunes Japan と共にパンク、ポストロック、エレクトロニック・ミュージックからジャズ・ファンク、そしてブロークン・ビーツまでの日本の音楽をショーケースしました。Saikoは東京在住のEclipse ProductionsとMetropolis magazineとパートナーシップを結んでいます。

Featured acts include legendary alt-rockers The Girl, rap-rock duo Uhnellys, Japan’s “godmother of techno” Coppe, Universal Records hip-hop artist Tigarah, street dance outfit Meisai and avant-garde kinbaku rope artist Hajime Kinoko. New York’s Blue Man Group and five of Tokyo’s most intriguing indie-rock bands joined Saiko for a Tohoku quake benefit in the epicenter of Japanese youth culture, Tokyo’s Shibuya district.

 

Saiko currently works with nonprofit J-Collabo and Japanese culture patrons the Globus Family to introduce cutting-edge Japanese creators to audiences in New York City via our residency platform AvanTokyo.
